My guess is that you need 2 HDMI cables.  Connect the Sky Box to HDMI 1 on the TV, and the DVD Player to HDMI 2.

Which Sky Box do you have?  Does it have a SCART output? I would guess it does.

You will need 3 cables: -

1.  SCART cable from Sky Box to DVD Recorder (to copy from Sky Hard Drive to DVD)

2.  HDMI cable from Sky Box to Bravia (to watch Sky on the Bravia in the best quality)

3.  HDMI cable from DVD Recorder to Bravia (to play DVDs in highest quality)

The second SCART from DVD Recorder to TV is optional.
