I was looking at an additional camera to use in place of the Nikon D780, when not needing the Nikon and I chose the a6400 for it's compact size and 18-135mm lens. I like the build quality and the quality of the images it takes. I look forward to taking great images with it as I am still learning the menu and controls at the moment!

Doesn't work. Spend hours trying to connect to bluetooth and wifi and nothing work. The app requires access to full photo library - this is illegal while not neccesary. I just want the camera to SEND photos and update. Absolutely ridiculous experience. Never tried anything like it! It doesn't have mandatory-by-law USB-C connection.

Dobry aparat na ktorego przykladzie widac brak zainteresowania klientem (zamiast zyskami). EU wymaga USB-C. To nie jest droga modyfikacja. Sony woli jednak oszczedzic pare centow i pozostawic micro-USB. Nawet jesli akcesoria sa na micro-USB i sony nie chce tego zmieniac, to nie jest przeciez problem; mozna zastosowac super maly i tani adapter. Widocznie jednak dla Sony to za duzy wydatek. Wracajac do kamery, spelnia swoje zadanie.

Après plusieurs mois de réflexion pour choisir mon prochain boîtier, j’ai finalement décidé de rejoindre l’écosystème Sony, porté par les nombreux retours positifs. Mon choix s’est arrêté sur le Sony A6400, qui correspondait parfaitement à mes besoins et à mon budget. Passionné de street photography, je cherchais un appareil discret, réactif et fiable, capable de gérer des situations variées : autofocus rapide pour saisir l’instant, montée en ISO propre pour les scènes sombres, ergonomie efficace pour travailler sans perdre de temps. Venant d’une autre marque, j’ai été un peu dérouté au début, mais l’apprentissage est rapide et gratifiant. Aujourd’hui, je peux le dire : je suis pleinement satisfait de mon achat. Le boîtier m’a offert un vrai saut en avant : des images nettement plus piquées, une réactivité qui change la manière de photographier, une résolution qui me permet enfin d’envisager de grands tirages, une fiabilité en basse lumière que je n’avais jamais eue auparavant. Pour quelqu’un qui rêve d’exposer, c’est un plaisir de voir ses fichiers tenir la route sans compromis. Il me reste encore à apprivoiser toutes ses possibilités, mais ce boîtier m’a déjà convaincu. Je le recommande sans hésitation à tous ceux qui cherchent un appareil compact, performant et taillé pour la street.

I bought this to replace an aging Canon M10. The a6400 is a massive step up in every way; enough hardware controls to do everything I need quickly and without having to use a screen, great image quality and (to me, at least) astonishingly fast and accurate autofocus. I also love that this camera is weather sealed and feels like it could withstand getting hit by a tank.

I bought this camera about a month ago, so these are just initial comments without a great deal of use. Let's get the single dislike out of the way. The placement of the SD card beggars belief. These cards have a small indentation at the bottom of the card on one side so that you can use a fingernail to help extracting it. When installed, the orientation of the card means that the indentation is covered. To get the card out, you have to point the base of the camera downwards and hope that the spring eject throws the card out. Grunt over. I bought the camera to replace a bridge camera that I found too big and cumbersome and wanted something that would be, potentially, pocketable. The camera is exactly what I wanted. A small, relatively lightweight camera that is capable of taking good photos (in the right hands). To say that the features are comprehensive is an understatement and I'm still in the process of familiarising myself with them. Once I feel comfortable and confident with its performance, my plan is to add a macro or short zoom lens (maybe both) to add to the kit lens that came with the camera. Overall, I'm really pleased with my purchase. I'd spent some time researching the options that suited my criteria and the A6400 kept on coming to the top of the list. I bought the camera from a local retailer (WEX, Norwich) and I left feeling confident that I would not be disappointed. Looking forward to getting out and about with the camera without getting shoulder ache.

I chose the camera for a long time, so it mostly meets my requirements. I wanted a small, light camera for traveling + interchangeable lenses. A small camera with interchangeable lenses. You can leave the settings on automatic, but if you want you can play around with it and adjust the settings manually, or even completely manual (which I prefer - I'm a moderately experienced photographer). I read somewhere in the review that "complicated menu" is a disadvantage. The settings menu is really extensive, especially at first it can be confusing. Fortunately, after the initial settings there is no reason to go to the menu often, just a few items + the most used items can be set to favorites for faster access What annoys me is the HDMI and USB cover - it opens suspiciously easily - star down.

Sono soddisfatto al momento della mia nuova camera e spero di non avere sorprese in seguito. Sono invece molto deluso per il trasferimento dei file perchè non si riesce a trasferire il raw tramite wifi e l'applicazione non è a mio avviso una delle migliori. Provengo da Pentax e Olympus e il trasferimento avveniva velocemente e senza problemi.

Outstanding camera with a wealth of features, too long a list to mention but the adjustable display screen is the outstanding feature. Superb in bright sunlight and very flexible with the ability to use it at different angles. A pleasant surprise as I didn't realise it had that feature, I assumed the screen was fixed as on my older camera. The best thing about the camera itself, apart from the excellent build quality, is the ability to take outstanding photos even in auto mode, perfect for the quick snapshot and perfect for people like myself who are not experts with the wealth of features available. Only gripe is the software could be a little more intuitive. The Creators Cloud app isn't available for this camera and manually transferring your photos by memory card still seems to be the easiest way to do it, which sems strange in 2026 unless I'm missing a trick.

Great camera for a beginner

I'm brand new to the photography world, and it's something I've always wanted to get into, so I decided that 2026 would be the year I finally pursue it as a new hobby. After doing some research and visiting my local camera shop, I settled on the Sony A6400. It's a beautiful camera with a great weight to it, and while the menu system is initially quite detailed, it's surprisingly intuitive once you spend a bit of time with it. Ergonomically, it feels great in the hand, and it's very easy to start shooting right away. I managed to get a great deal on the A6400 with the 16–50mm kit lens, which is perfect for learning the basics and experimenting with different kinds of shots. So far, I'm really impressed with the features, the image quality, and how user-friendly the whole setup is.

I recently bought the Sony a6400, and it completely changed my photography game. The image quality is stunning, autofocus is lightning-fast, and the colors are so natural straight out of the camera. Bel corpo macchina ma obiettivo pessimo. Purtroppo Sony regala in pacchetto un obiettivo che sarebbe meglio averlo decurtato dal prezzo del tutto perché è letteralmente inutile. Il buono inoltre di 100X3 vale solo per obiettivi praticamente inaccessibili. Sono costretto ad acquistare un obiettivo di altra marca che però è recensito molto bene altrimenti non posso utilizzare in maniera neppure amatoriale il tutto.

J'ai acheté ce produit le mois dernier. Peut-être n'est il pas livré avec le dernier firmware mais je ne trouve pas la fonction [Non réglé] dans le menu. J'ai beau chercher je ne la trouve pas, elle est pourtant mentionnée dans le manuel. A ce propos je ne trouve pas que le manuel soit bien pratique

Esta ha sido mi primera cámara, fantastica para aprender ya que tiene un menú facil de comprender, es ligera, es APC con lo cual puedes tener más zoom que con una full frame y lo mejor de todo es que es mucho más económica, actualmente me compré tambien la A7IV pero porque creo que ya le saqué todo el uso que pude a mi sony a6400 igualmente no la he desechado sigo trabajando con ambas, y de momento es la que utilizo para la fotografia subacuatica la a6400

Sono passato dalla A6000 a questa A6400 per necessità di tropicalizzazione, del display pieghevole, e ho notato un'ottima costruzione, una messa a fuoco eccellente, e i video in 4k! Ottima per iniziare, ma anche per intermedi che non hanno il budget per una fullframe.

Brought myself up to date after parting with my 13 year old camera. That was a very good 10mp Panasonic. I have to say there is a learning curve to cope with because the A6400 is very sophisticated indeed. The lack of legible operating procedures and instructions is a minus point for Sony. The major plus point is the extremely fast focusing system and image quality. Had to “buy” a book to learn how to use it. Not happy about that.

Obwohl die Kamera bereits in die Jahre gekommen ist, ist sie immer noch eine durchaus interessante Alternative für Personen denen die 6700 zu teuer ist. Für Hobbyfotografen durchaus ausreichend. Man muss sich etwas einlesen um alles zu verstehen. Da es sich für mich um meine Zweitkamera handelt kann ich alle Objektive und Akkus weiter verwenden.
