Can I use the USB terminal on the system in order to upgrade the firmware?
Yes, you can.

Do I need to connect the unit to the network and other devices in order to upgrade the firmware of the system?
You can update the firmware using a USB memory device, without connecting to the network. However, regardless of how you decide to process the upgrade, you will need to connect to a TV as some messages ask for confirmation.

Please perform the following procedure:

1. Check the following items.

  • Make sure the power is on for the router and any devices between this unit and the router.
  • Connect all cables between this unit and the router correctly.
  • Confirm whether the type of network cable (straight or crossover) used is the correct one.

2. Press Enter to select Retry on the display. If you can't perform the update through the network, you can try updating via a USB memory device. There may be a problem with your network connection. Verify that the network connection and settings are correct.
1. Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the "LAN(100)" terminal on the player, as well as to the Internet source (likely to be your router).
2. Check the Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theatre System network settings and confirm that the player has its own IP address.
NOTE: If you use a proxy server, enter the IP address of the proxy server you use instead of the proxy host name in the "Proxy Server" input field.
3. Go through the Network Upgrade procedure again.

Power-on the Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theatre System, and follow the instructions from the Network Upgrade procedure again.

If you started the upgrade using a wireless network, try again using an Ethernet cable. If the network upgrade process does not complete after running for more than 60 minutes even when using a wired network, the network transmission speed may be low.
